Steampunk Inspired

Steampunk is easily the most recognizably genre of our era, and for those of you asking,

"What the heck is steampunk?"

Don't fear, I'm here to tell you.

Recently I've become inspired by the world of steam which is why I am writing a blog on it. If you haven't been informed about steampunk is yet, I must say it is definitely something to know a little about.

My goal is to become, what I call, a steam genius. The brain behind the marvelous artistic steampunk inventions so I've started making light fixtures, one of 8 which is made and steampunk jewelry as well. So before we get started Please check out my steampunk items on Etsy, just to get a feel of what were about to talk about.

I'm sure by looking at the pictures above you've realized you've seen steampunk before you just didn't know it had a name. Well it does and there's a lot more to it than just a name!

Steampunk is a sub-genre of science fiction that typically features steam powered machinery. Its inspired by industrialized Western civilization set in an alternative history of the 19th century's British Victorian era or American Wild West. Steampunk was created for all those who wonder what the world would be like if  steam power had regained mainstream use. But its not just inventions people are recreating and creating its also rooted in the era's perspective on fashion, culture, architectural style, and art.

So when you see a steampunk piece, think of it as an anachronistic technology or retro-futuristic invention as the people in the 19th century might have envisioned them.

I recently became involved in the era of steampunk and ever since I can honestly say the people who invent steam punk pieces are pure geniuses. Putting together a success steam punk piece isn't easy, its a process, a thought through plan inspired by everything around you. You really have to take apart things, and try going back to the beginning as if nothing was here but few resources to make things work. It really is a neat era to be apart of or at least know about so you appreciate a steampunk item when you see one.

In the 19th century inventions were designed with the intentions of being steam powered, these inventions were much more thought through and definitely more technical, they were almost like working pieces of art.

As we all may know there are a few
 steam powered machines
still around today,
and that is the train and sawmill.

Steampunk really has inspired me in all I do, in fashion and most of all in art, props and furniture. If you ever see a steampunk piece in person, really take the time to look at it, how it works, how it was put together. Its amazing, its not just a invention its art!
